Robert Downey Jr is all set to make his Marvel comeback and MCU fans are super excited. While the Oscar-winning actor earlier captivated audiences worldwide as Iron Man, on Sunday, July 28, it was announced that the actor would now play Doctor Doom. At the San Diego Comic-Con, Anthony Russo and Joe Russo introduced RDJ as Doctor Doom and revealed he’s be seen as the super villain in Avengers 5 – Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers 6 – Avengers: Secret Wars.

Robert Downey Jr to earn over $80 million as Doctor Doom?

As per a recent Variety report, Marvel Studio is all set to pay the Russo Brothers – Anthony Russo & Joe Russo and Robert Downey Jr a colossal amount for the upcoming Avenger films. A source in the know has revealed that Marvel is reportedly paying the director duo $80 million to direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

The report further notes that the Russo Brothers’ deal does not include back-end compensation; however, it includes performance escalators that kick in at the $750 million and $1 billion thresholds. The Russo Brothers will also produce the two films via their AGBO banner – a first for Marvel.

The same report claims Robert Downey Jr will allegedly be getting more than the director duo. You read that right. As per the source, RDJ is likely to earn more than $80 million for his portrayal of Doctor Doom in Avengers 5 and 6. Reportedly, the Russos are the sole reason RDJ has returned to the MCU. The source was quoted saying, “They were the only ones he would work with.”

Aside from the hefty pay, the actor’s deal comes with several perks, including private jet travel, dedicated security, a whole trailer encampment and more.

During his stint as Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr reportedly earned $500-$600 million. He received $500,000 for his performance in the first Iron Man, and $75 million for his part in Avengers: Endgame. He is known for being the highest-paid member of the MCU.
