Shakira and Gerard Pique to split up due to the latter’s cheating?

The international singer Shakira and Spanish footballer Gerard Pique make for one of the most loved and adored power couples globally. The duo met during the 2010 Football World Cup in South Africa where Gerard Pique was representing his national football team of Spain that went on to win the World Cup that year whereas Shakira had curated the official song Waka Waka for the edition. Their love story bloomed from there but seems like the couple is now facing some trouble in paradise.

A recent report in the international publication El Periodico reported that Pique is back to living in his calle Muntaner bachelor house in Barcelona and several neighbours in the building have seen the footballer entering and leaving over the last week. It also said that Pique has been enjoying the Barcelona nightlife with friend Riqui Puig and his group of friends.

According to the report, the reason behind Pique moving out from his home with Shakira is that the singer caught him with another woman, and they have decided to separate for the moment. The El Periodico report also suggested Pique’s partying is somewhat out of control.

And it’s not just him living away, but also a few lyrics from Shakira’s latest song ‘Te Felicito’ with Rauw Alejandro have also hinted towards some trouble in their relationship. She sings, “For completing you I broke into pieces; they warned me, but I did not pay attention. I realized that yours is false; it was the drop that overflowed the glass; do not tell me you’re sorry, that seems sincere, but I know you well and I know you lie. I congratulate you, how well you act, of that I have no doubt; with your role continues, you look good that show.”

The lyrics further say, “I don’t buy that cheap philosophy, I’m sorry, I don’t ride that motorcycle anymore; I can’t stand two-faced people; I used to put my hands on fire for you and you treat me like one more of your whims; your wound didn’t open my skin, but it opened my eyes. My eyes are red from crying so much for you; and now, it turns out that you are sorry; it sounds sincere, but I know you well and I know that you lie; I congratulate you, how well you act.”

Additionally, the footballer has also somewhat disappeared from Shakira’s social media. It has been over two months since the singer posted any picture or video with or of him, with the last post she shared of him being from March. The couple has been together for 12 years now and they have two sons together, Milan born in 2013 and Sasha born in 2015. The duo has even been listed in Forbes list of World’s Most Powerful Couples.
