Earlier today, Marvel Cinematic Studio unveiled the teaser trailer and poster for the upcoming action feature film, Thunderbolts*. The film features an array of antihero MCU characters such as Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Alongside these stars, the teaser trailer also features some exciting new faces.

The teaser trailer begins with Yelena Belova meeting her adoptive dad, Red Guardian and telling him that there is something wrong with her. She tells her father figure that she feels empty and feels like she has no purpose. The action feature film then highlights the scene where the anti-heroes – Yelena, Mel and Sentry- meet Bob. The 3-minute, 15-second clip sees Yelena deducing that someone wants the antiheroes gone. The film – based on the Marvel comic ‘Careful who you assemble,’ also sees the return of Bucky.

Directed by Jake Schreier, Thunderbolts* is written by Eric Pearson, Lee Sung Jin, and Joanna Calois. The antihero actioner is produced by Kevin Feige with Louis D’Esposito, Brian Chapek, Jason Tamez and Scarlett Johansson serving as executive producers.

The film – based on the Marvel Comics team Thunderbolts*, is produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film features an ensemble cast including David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Geraldine Viswanathan, Lewis Pullman, Olga Kurylenko, and Florence Pugh. In the film, the group of antiheroes go on missions for the government.

Marvel Studios began teasing the formation of a Thunderbolts team within the MCU in 2021. The film was revealed to be in development in June 2022. The main cast members were revealed in September. And was followed by additional casting through early 2023. The film’s production was delayed in 2023 due to the Hollywood labour disputes, leading to some actors leaving the project and a few being replaced in early 2024. Filming took place from February to June 2024.

Thunderbolts* will release in the United States on May 2, 2025. It will be the last film of Phase Five of the MCU.
