When Akshay was asked if ‘Rustom’ is similar to Vinod Khanna starrer ‘Achanak’, he said, “There is no similarity as I told you earlier here we have used a lot of incidents and that one (‘Achanak’) is only based on one incident. So, that’s why it comes out as is he a ‘Patriotic’, a ‘Murderer’ or a ‘Traitor’. I would call ‘Rustom’ a romantic-thriller.”

Talking about how the film shows a new dimension in relationships, Akki said, “You all have seen a lot of Hindi films, but we have always shown that a man cheats in a marriage. Then he asks for forgiveness, and in movies we have seen that the woman forgives and they live happily ever after.”

“But till date I haven’t understood that why we haven’t made a film in which the woman cheats and then she asks for forgiveness and the man has to decide whether to forgive or not. This is the USP of ‘Rustom’ and nobody can deny that this doesn’t happen.”

The film which is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai releases on August 12th. It also stars Ileana D’Cruz and Esha Gupta.
