Actress-filmmaker Divya Khosla Kumar, who has helmed films like ‘Yaariyan’ and ‘Sanam Re’, feels blessed that she has been able to pursue her passion for film direction as a profession.
Asked what’s more tough — directing films or being a mother, Divya told IANS: “Quite honestly, I don’t consider any of them as jobs per say. Directing films is my passion and hobby and I’m blessed to have that as my profession and to be loved by the audience for it.
“And to be a mother, if you call that job then that’s probably the best ever job one can have!”
But being a director is more taxing, says Divya, who is married to T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar.
“Being a director and the captain of the ship is definitely more taxing,” she said.
The filmmaker says when it comes to direction, one’s vision needs to be very clear.
“You need to have your entire team on the same page as you as well as the same wavelength, dealing with on-set and off-set problems, all of it really gets to you at a point of time.
“But once you see the final product, it’s all worth it and you cannot beat that ecstatic feeling,” she added.
Divya, who will be seen as a showstopper for designer Reynu Taandon’s show at FDCI India Couture Week, which will be held here from July 20, says fashion for her goes “hand-in hand” with comfort.
Asked how important fashion is for her, Divya said: “Of course, fashion is important but it is more vital to be comfortable in what you wear… I personally dedicate a decent amount of time to revamping my wardrobe every now and then as per the changing fashion trends.
“So yes, fashion is very important as is wearing the right style trend at the right venue or occasion.”
Talking about the outfit she would showcasing for the designer’s collection titled ‘Kamangari’, Divya says Taandon’s clothes are a “pop of freshnesss”.
She said: “Her collection is characterised by soft intricate work giving a dash of the modern touch to Indian ethnic wear. Her outfits are exactly what I look for, fits to the T and looks like a dream! The stunning colour-combination teamed with gorgeous work and the perfect fit, makes me feel like a bride all over again.”
The 34-year-old also shared that she is “ecstatic” to don Taandon’s ensemble and “romance the ramp”.
FDCI India Couture Week is to be held from July 20-24.
