Ananth Mahadevan's interview on Emraan Hashmi and Himesh Reshammiya
Filmmaker Ananth Mahadevan’s ‘Aksar’ is synonymous with the elements of mystery and thrill. The filmmaker had surprised the audience with his 2006 suspense drama ‘Aksar’ which featured Emraan Hashmi, Udita Goswami and Dino Morea playing the lead roles. The film is still remembered for the performances of its leads. In a candid conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Ananth Mahadevan spills the beans on why we won’t see Emraan Hashmi again in ‘Aksar 2’.
“Firstly, ‘Aksar 2’ is not a sequel. And even if it was a sequel, Emraan’s character died in the first part… so I wanted a whole set of new characters and faces who haven’t worked with each other before. It helps in making the plot unpredictable. I mean, if the film had Emraan Hashmi, one would expect him to have a grey shade… you would expect him to do certain things according to his image, which would make it very predictable. This is anyway a standalone film, this is only taking ahead of the brand ‘Aksar’ and not the story of the first part. So I went in for a whole new set of actors that made a fresh combo.
In fact, actors like Gautam Rode, Abhinav Shukla, Sreesanth, and of course Lillete Dubey added up to the curiosity factor, because people would be left wondering what their character graph would be!Like it’s  a complete transformation of an image for Zareen. As far as the performances are concerned they have delivered exactly what the characters demanded ” said Mahadevan.

Further, when asked if we will at least get to see cameos of Emraan, Udita or Dino in ‘Aksar 2’, he said, “None. It (Aksar 2) doesn’t even have the iconic cult song ‘Jhalak Dikhla Ja’. It’s a totally different film, it’s not really a whodunit.”
Furthermore, not having Himesh, but Mithoon is another topic of discussion among the audiences. Here’s what Mahadevan had to say about it, “Well, you see we all wanted Himesh. Frankly, he was very busy with his music albums and assignments. And he was also busy with another film he was doing after ‘The Xpose’. So I think he didn’t have enough time to devote. He hasn’t been composing for a very long time, and so we decided to go to the music of today. Mithoon had worked with us for ‘Aggar’. And he is a fabulous music composer. Mithoon has composed some lovely numbers, from ‘Aaj Zid’ to ‘Jaana Ve’ to ‘Tanhaiyaan’. Rohit Kulkarni has composed the theme of ‘Aksar’ which goes into the final scroll. So, we have a great track again. ‘Aksar’ 11 years ago required a certain kind of melody and music and now it needs to appeal to an audience that is craving for melody and Mithoon has admirably stood up to the challenge “
‘Aksar 2’, the film also stars Mohit Madaan and is produced by Narendra Bajaj and Chirag Bajaj. The film is slated to hit the screens on November 17, 2017.
