Director Ram Madhvani‘s woman-centric film, which was earlier supposed to star actress Kajol, has been shelved as of now. Kajol, 41, was earlier going to make her comeback with Madhvani’s film but it did not work out as she reportedly asked for an “unaffordable” fee.
Later, several names including Madhuri Dixit, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Priyanka Chopra, cropped up.
“I will have to have discussions about it (film). So, better I don’t speak,” Ram said.
When asked if the film has been shelved, he said, “It is right now. I have put it away for the moment, so let’s see when it comes back. God willing. But I am desperate to work with Kajol.”
Though the project is not happening soon, its subject remains the same and there will be no changes to it. “It is a woman-centric film. But it is not going to be my next after ‘Neerja’,” he said.
Ram, who directed many award winning commercials, is looking forward to the release of his film “Neerja”, based on the life of late flight attendant Neerja Bhanot on Pan Am 73, that was hijacked by Libyan terrorists in Karachi.
She had saved 359 passengers at the cost of her life in 1986.
The film tells the story of her extraordinary courage, with Sonam Kapoor playing the titular role.
The biopic is scheduled to release on February 19, 2016.
