Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are all set to be back on the big screen after five years as Tiger and Zoya in Ali Abbas Zafar’s ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’. But, do you guys know this movie was not called ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ earlier?
Well, recently we met Ali and he revealed that earlier this film was not supposed to be a sequel of ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and was not titled as ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’.
The director revealed, “When I wrote this story it was not supposed to be a sequel to ‘Ek Tha Tiger’. It was called ‘360 Hours’. It was a story of a rescue mission which has Indian and Pakistani agents both. So, when ‘Sultan’ got over I got greedy and I said let me make another film with Salman because he gets me a lot of box office.”
“I went to Adi (Aditya Chopra) and I said this story remember we wrote, I want to make it, he said ‘fab who do you want to make it with’, I said I want to convert it into Tiger franchise, so he laughed. I said why can’t we make it there’s a Pakistan and Indian spy, why can’t I adapt it into a franchise, and I said I also have a kickass title called ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’. So, he also got greedy. Then in a week’s time I adapted entire script as a sequel to ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and narrated it to him and he said it works like magic and it has become better than what we had,” he added.
He further stated, “What happens is as soon as the two people you already know come together, it becomes a family film. Earlier they were lovers, and now how their relationship is, what they are doing after eight years like why they came for the mission, it became a more relatable.”
“So, I went to Salman and told him that I have a story, he said kya title hai, I said ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, he said waah kya title hai. Then I narrated him the story and withing 20 minutes, he doesn’t hear full script narration, he said, ‘Ali I would just like to tell you one thing that whether it’s a sequel or not I will do the film because the story is the hero here which is bigger than Tiger and Zoya’. Then I narrated the story to Katrina and her reaction was the same,” Ali added. (Also Read: Tiger Zinda Hai: Ali Abbas Zafar admits to not having guts to name the film ‘Zoya Zinda Hai’?)
