Ranbir Kapoor on Rishi Kapoor’s tweets: There are constant fights and conflicts at home because of it

As Ranbir Kapoor has been promoting his upcoming flick ‘Jagga Jasoos’, he spoke candidly about everything that concerns him and one question that everybody wanted an answer to is when will he join social media. So, he got candid about social media like never before and even discussed about his father-actor Rishi Kapoor getting trolled for his tweets full of angst.

He said, “Never say never. But, it’s not something I’m comfortable with. There are various factors, one, I’m lazy. I don’t think I’m an interesting person to showcase. I don’t think I have interesting pictures or interesting thoughts that I could express. And also, it’s a lot of hard work to be entertaining and engaging on another platform. I already have a platform where I have to work hard and make myself interesting and have a longevity in my career. Now if I take up another platform, I will have to work double hard. I think the downside of social media is that you start becoming something that you are designing, you start living a parallel life. This is the person I am, these are my thoughts. There are few people who can really be themselves on a platform like social media and I don’t think I can be myself on social media. When asked about pseudo accounts in his name on social media, he said, “I just have an Instagram account from the day Instagram was launched. So, I follow a lot of people who I admire and it’s a lot of fun. But I think, once I start posting them it becomes a media conference of your life. If I tweet something, there is too much of responsibility and I’m happy to live a simple life without these responsibilities.”

Now when he talks about tweeting, the next question is of course about his father’s Twitter account which has often landed him in trouble. So Ranbir was asked if he has ever told his father to calm down while tweeting, he replied, “I think my mother is doing all of that. There are constant fights and conflicts at home because of it. But you know having said that, my father is very honest. He considers himself as a citizen of this country and if he has an opinion about entertainment, politics or food ban or anything which is topical, he will say it. He is not a hypocrite, he will not say that, ‘Okay, I’m an actor, if I say something people will take it seriously and I will fall into trouble.’ He doesn’t care. He wants to say it because he feels the need to say it, so he says it. I’m a hypocrite. I don’t think I can do that. If in a press conference or in this meeting if you guys ask me to say something of a conflicting nature, I don’t think I can be as honest as him. So I admire that quality of him. He falls into trouble a lot, there are constant morchas under his house and constant trolls but he doesn’t care. He still has an opinion and he will express it.”

It surely takes guts to wear your heart on your sleeves, doesn’t it?
