With “Aashiqui 2”, “ABCD 2” and now musical drama “Rock On! 2”, Shraddha Kapoor is fast becoming the sequel queen but the actress says there has never been a conscious decision to do follow-ups of successful movies and she just looks for a great story and character in a film.
The 26-year-old actress said she is cautious that she has a genuine role in the sequel and gets a scope to perform, besides making sure that the story is not a continuation of the first movie.
“Yes it is true that three of my films are sequels. But it is mere co-incidence. I sign the film that I do as I found the role and story interesting.
“Also because no one of the new films have a similar story line of the original film? They are not connected to the first one. They are new stories,” Shraddha told PTI.
The actress’ first two releases “Teen Patti” and “Love Ka The End” was lost without a trace and it was in 2013 romantic drama “Aashiqui 2” directed by Mohit Suri that catapulted her to success.
Since then has had her hands full, having starred in films like “Ek Villain”, “Haider” and “ABCD 2” and also done playback for herself.
Shraddha admitted that at times it does get exhausting juggling between two art forms but she is not complaining as she is living her childhood dream.
“It is a lot fun… It gets a little exhausting but when you are living your childhood dream then it is all worth it. I feel like I am so blessed to get these opportunities.
“To be able to sing for my own films, to be able to do films that are so special and stay connected with audience. I am blessed to be doing everything,” she said. .With so many young actresses in Bollywood trying to do challenging roles, the competition must be severe to handle.
Shraddha said she, however, prefers to focus on what she is doing, rather than keeping a tap on what her peers are up to professionally.
“We all know each other, we meet each other. We are all working. I think we are very happy and blessed to be working.
I give my everything to the films that I do. So, my attention is only on that. I do not necessarily thing about what others are doing,” she said.
The actress is currently shooting with Tiger Shroff for director Sabbir Khan’s “Baaghi”. Shraddha injured herself while rehearsing for a song from the film.
She said it was an injury that she sustained while shooting “ABCD 2” last year.
“I got the injury during ‘ABCD 2’ and it came back to trouble me in ‘Baaghi’. These partial muscle tears are very annoying… They can come back.
“I was supposed to shoot a song with Tiger and had to dance, the sets were up, Sabbir sir was very sweet he said he would postpone it for a day for me to rest so we had to postpone it for one day,” Shraddha said.
The actress will soon start shooting “Rock On 2” in Shillong. Shraddha is the newest addition to the film that has Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, and Pracchi Desai reprising their roles.
