Tusshar Kapoor

Actor Tusshar Kapoor is a father today and irrespective of the changes in his life, he continues to get associated with adult comedies largely. However, he is also synonymous for his mute character in the ‘Golmaal’ franchise. Now, as he is all set to be seen in the latest instalment from the franchise called ‘Golmaal Again’, he spoke candidly about adult comedies and clean family entertainers like ‘Golmaal’.

During the media interaction, Tusshar was asked about how does he feel when audience associates him with adult comedies in general. He said, “I’m okay with it. I’m not embarassed about being a part of adult comedies. I have done some that have really worked also like the ‘Kyaa Kool Hai Hum’ franchise. Obviously, it’s not the time to make an adult comedy because though there is a huge audience, there is a lot of hate also. There are two different views; there is somebody who loves it and somebody who hates it. So, it’s not the time to make it and the authorities are also not pro-adult comedies. There is more strictness as far as the Censor Board is concerned. It’s good I mean that’s their policy and let things become a little more clear.” (Also Read: Rohit Shetty on ‘Golmaal Again’: This was the most difficult ‘Golmaal’ to write)

He further said, “I’m not embarassed by getting associated with this genre. However, I get more associated with ‘Golmaal’. So, it’s okay, it’s all a part of this profession as to what people like you in and they will brand you like that. If comedies is my forte and people think that they like me most in comedy, then it’s okay if I get typecast or I get branded in that sense. But, I was just clearing that like ‘Great Grand Masti’, I shouldn’t be associated with films that I’m not a part of also. That’s discrediting the actors who are there in the film. ”

When asked about films like ‘Mastizaade’ and ‘Kyaa Kool Hai Hum 3’ not working, he said, “‘Mastizaade’ I didn’t see and ‘Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3’, I sincerely believe that with 150 to 200 cuts there was nothing left in the film. According to me as an audience, it was an entertaining film, it was a massy adult comedy. Lots of the humour was removed. So what they expected from the promos, those gags were also not there in the film. So a lot of the masala was removed and I don’t know if it would have worked, but it would have definitely done better than how it did. Because it opened really well and then after the collections started dropping, the complaints that we got from the people were like ‘Arre, yeh toh normal picure hain’. Why is it called an adult comedy when it’s a normal picture? So, few of the gags remained, while a lot of it was removed. I think at least we would have a chance to show what we had made, envisioned or scripted.”

When, he was asked about getting averse to do adult comedies in future, he replied, “I’m not going to do any more till the laws permit us to. I think it makes no sense, you put money, producer loses eventually, the actors are frustrated too. It’s better to do movies like ‘Golmaal Again’, no stress, full family can come, watch it, blockbuster hopefully.”

Talking about ‘Golmaal Again’, the movie which is written and directed by Rohit Shetty, also stars Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Parineeti Chopra, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade and will be releasing on Oct 20, 2017.
