The Night Manager Part 2 REVIEW:

The Night Manager is the official Hindi remake of the British television serial starring Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie. Season 1 of the show has been divided into two parts. The first part consists of 4 episodes while the second part has 3 episodes. The first part was a slow burner for me but the second part picked up the pace and didn’t look hurried. Earlier, I gave 2.5 stars in my review of the first part of The Night Manager and now, the show gives an engaging ending to season 1.

Story:

It is a story about The Night Manager named Shaan Sengupta, an ex-soldier, who goes on a mission to infiltrate an arms dealer’s inner circle.

Highlights of The Night Manager 2

The tension and anticipation that was built between Shailendra and Shaan throughout the series were quite enthralling. I was at the edge of my seat whenever I felt like the cover will be blown or to see a false narrative. That feeling was quite exhilarating. Moreover, the performances by Anil Kapoor, Aditya and Tillotama are just fab.

Drawbacks of The Night Manager 2

I felt odd when Shailendra who is a maniac and a sadist was so gullible as he believed in Shaan blindly. Without giving a second thought, he offered him to join his business and that was pretty odd. Somewhere I felt that the ending could have been better after narrating a riveting story. According to me, the fate of Shelly shown at the end of the season could have been better but it was a letdown. They could have done it better which could have been a better ending.

Star Performances:

I have said this before and will say it now: Aditya Roy Kapur is a hot treat. Though this time, there were fewer shirtless scenes, Aditya still looked dapper in every frame. When it comes to his performance, it feels like he was holding back for some reason. Overall, he did put up a decent performance.

For some reason, I didn’t really enjoy Anil Kapoor‘s performance. From his fake American accent to emoting certain emotions, it seemed overdone. Even though this is a continuation, I feel Anil was better in the first part than in the second one.

On the other hand, Tillotama Shome, as usual, shines in her sassy avatar. However, in the second part, we get to see Tillotama in a bit of action which was refreshing. Saswata Chatterjee is a fantastic actor and tries to do some justice to his badly written character.

Coming to Sobhita Dhulipala, I hoped to see more character revelation about Kaveri but sadly, there’s nothing of those sorts. Nevertheless, Sobhita looks stunning in every frame.

Conclusion

Overall, The Night Manager Part 2 is engaging and thrilling. Though it was always very predictable since part 2, Sandeep Modi nicely executed the climax. The best thing about the show is that it picked up the pace. The series started on a slow note but ended on a banging note.
