Fireflies: Parth Aur Jugnu REVIEW:

NOTE: The Fireflies review is based on the first episode

Fireflies- Parth Aur Jugnu is a new-age drama that has all the potential to mesmerise the kids of today’s generation. It comes like a breath of fresh air which will make you relive the audience’s love for fantasy or fiction. Stories like Amar Chitra Katha or fantasy stories have always grabbed the kids’ attention. Well, to make it visually appealing to all, Hemant Gaba, the director of the series, makes a magical story for the younger generation. It is a story that needs to be enjoyed with the family and delivers on its promise of being a fun ride.

Story:

Set in the backdrop of an actual Indian family unit, dealing with the common man’s problems, Fireflies- Parth Aur Jugnu is a story of a 14-year-old dispirited boy Parth who meets a mystical kid named Jugnu from the haunted forests of Bheem Mukhteshwar. Parth forms an unlikely friendship with Jugnu, a magical boy who lives in the haunted woods of his village. Soon the friends find themselves on a mission to protect a magical tree in the forest. The encounter leads to an action-packed adventure of self-discovery and a ride for laughter and live action in a never-before-seen avatar! Will they succeed?

Highlights of Fireflies:

One of the best things that appealed to me is the bond between the kids and the grandparents. It reminded me of the happy times with my grandparents when they used to narrate intriguing stories. Fireflies highlight the sweet moment with utmost love and affection. It actually takes you to the world of ‘bachpan ki kahaniyan’ sessions with our grandparents.

The show stands out artistically as Hemant took the help of folklore and did a little magic with his wand. He tried to convey the message about humanity rather than making it all preachy and on your face. Moreover, it teaches us the traditional way of learning where the kids find out solutions from folklore stories. Adding to this, the VFX has added more value to Fireflies that look super real.

I like how Hemant captured the beauty of the hills of Himachal as the show showcases the most picturesque locales of Mukhteshwar.

Star performances:

Meet Mukhi essays the role of Parth who is innocent and always worried about his academic performance. He has a strong urge to learn new things and that makes him learn new experiences. On the other hand, Aekam Binjwe as Jugnu is too cute. His boyish charm and his strong performance will make you fall in love with him.

Conclusion:

Coming to conclusion, Fireflies: Parth Aur Jugnu brings the whole family a perfect amalgamation of fantasy, magic and mythology. Fireflies is all about thoda pyaar, thoda gyaan and thoda magic. This can be the perfect show for kids who are suckers of fantasy and make you relive your childhood.
