When life keeps throwing tantrums at us and the frustration ain’t bearable anymore, we be like “jus’t don’t care’! Devasish Makhija, with his short film ‘Taandav’, has beautifully executed how one tries to break free at such moments.
‘Taandav’ rotates around Inspector Tamble (Manoj Bajpayee) who is going through a rough patch. His daughter doesn’t want to go a Government school but a private school asks for an amount he is unable to pay. Outcome? A pissed wifey and an upset daughter darling. He belongs to the species of police incpectors who will stick to being honest. Black Money? No as hell. Outcome? Pissed colleagues. In short, no one to talk to. Ever wondered how tough life could be for such laymen?
Like cherry on top, Tamble is on duty during the Ganpati Visarjan. There is music, there are screams and crazy dances, street quarrels and what not? Everything is just adding to the irritation. Looks like he can’t take it anymore. How will he break free? That’s the most amazing part and you got to watch it out!
Devasish Makhija has brought in a variety of emotions within a short span of 11 minutes. You feel angry on dishonest police officers, you feel furious on a corrupt education system, you feel poor for an ordinary man stuck in ethical dilemma. Precisely the beauty of storytelling.
Manoj Bajpayee has once more proven that he can be versatile to no end. He absolutely steals the show! We wonder when will he get his due in Bollywood.
As an additional treat, the film uses a soundtrack by Nucleya. Those tunes have just added to the ‘Taandav’.
In case you’ve not watched it yet, here’s the link below. There’s no way you can miss out on such a treat!
