The combination of romance and horror is a tried, tested and even ruined formula in Bollywood. After his last film ‘Beiimaan Love’ sank without a trace, actor Rajniesh Duggall is back on the big screen with today’s release ‘Saansein‘. Along with him there’s actress Sonarika Bhadoria, much popular for her role in television serial ‘Devon Ke Dev… Mahadev’. So will this ‘Saansein’ make you hold your breath by scaring the hell out of someone? Know it all in ‘Saansein’ movie review.

The plot begins with Shirin, a singer who sings in a popular club of Mauritius. Shirin’s life is trapped in a complicated, rather more traumatised situation as a lustful spirit acts as a shield, killing the ones who try to get close to her. While living in this jeopardy for almost two years, enters Abhay a successful businessman. After seeing Shirin for the first time in a temple and not in the club, Abhay starts following her constantly everywhere and soon falls in love with her. Soon the spirit attacks Abhay and he tries to find out about the past strings attached to this nightmare of Shirin. How would Abhay get to know about freeing Shirin from this evil spirit? Will Abhay be able to free Shirin from this? Will Abhay and Shirin live happily together? All answers lie in this pathetic movie ‘Saansein’.

Coming to performances, Rajniesh Duggall plays the part of Abhay. He needs to choose the right scripts now, certainly looking at his recent movies. He is a good actor doing bad films. Sonarika Bhadoria plays Shirin. She could have made a better choice for her Bollywood debut. She doesn’t get to perform other than for a baggage of songs and emotional scenes. Hiten Tejwani and Neetha Shetty who play the parts of exorcist and Shirin’s best friend respectively, are okay in their performances.

Talking about writing, Rajiv S Ruia, Ravindra R Patil and Siraj Ahmed have definitely come up with a predictable concept, boring screenplay and a lot more cliched dialogues. They make you laugh hard in the first half and even test the patience of the audience who are quietly facing this torture throughout.

Rajiv S Ruia’s direction, neither it is engaging enough to hold you completely nor it is something that the audience hasn’t seen earlier in a couple of horror movies.

‘Saansein’ has a run time of 1 hour 40 minutes and there are 4 to 5 songs, which are just fine. In second half, the romantic number ‘Mera Ishq’ could have been edited out but perhaps that was the only time in the movie when Sonarika is seen happy and smiling, so it was retained for her fans.

To wrap it up, ‘Saansein’ has nothing new and engaging to offer. Sheer waste of time and money, avoid watching this you won’t regret if you miss it.
