‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ is another romantic drama which doesn’t carry in it any special elements that can set it apart. In fact, it’s flat and boring to a large extent.

Saru (Marwa Hocane) is an average-looking nerdy girl and no guy ever hits on her. However, her sister is a prettier one, has a boyfriend  and also wants to get married! But then in India, thanks to our ‘sanskar’,  no younger sister gets married until the elder one is hitched. Ashamed of herself for all the difficulty she is causing to her sister, Saru decides to get a makeover done so that men started eyeing on her!

Cliche enough,,right? There’s more. She seeks help from Inder (Harshvardhan Rane) who stays in the same building and is a badass guy. Inder helps her get a make-over. It’s a typical romantic Bollywood film and he OBVIOUSLY falls in love with her but is unable to express.

In between come the much sleazy twists; like Saru being diagnosed with cancer which is obviously followed by a lot hue and cry; and she almost getting hitched to another man. After all these if you are too eager to know what happens at the climax, check the film out. We bless you.

‘Phew’ is what you’d say, when it ends. The film seems unbearably stretched. It should have been cut down to at least half n hour-40 minutes. Both Marwa and Harshvardhan could have been utilised in a much better way. They both are flamboyant performers . We wonder what made them nod to such a stereotypical plot. Rane was set to made his Bollywood debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Ram Leela’ which he turned down. After the box office collections and feedbacks of ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ start pouring in, he might regret for having said ‘No’ to Bhansali.

The only thing to like about ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ , apart from the lead pair’s performance, is the freshness in Harshvardhan & Marwa’s chemistry. Technicalities are on an average quality and songs are alright. Himesh Reshammiya has composed far better stuff than this in past. Neither the background scores nor the songs will last in your mind for long. Scriptwise it is too run-of-the-mill and dragged.

Not suggested. You won’t miss out on anything great if you give it a skip.
