HanuMan Movie Review
Movies that have a connection to mythology are fascinating and HanuMan movie is one of them. As the title suggests, HanuMan is all about the Lord’s power and his existence in life but with a modern twist. Bringing two worlds together – Mythology and today’s generation was quite interesting and amusing to witness. An ordinary guy becoming a superhero who possesses Lord Hanuman’s power is a unique concept, having the potential to draw people’s attention. As we have watched HanuMan movie, here’s an honest review.
Story
An ordinary man named Hanumant (Teja Sajja) leads a simple life with his friend and sister in a small and imaginary village called Anjanadri. But the one thing that keeps him going is his love for Meenakshi (Amritha Aiyer) who is completely unaware of his feelings. Amidst all this, the place is ruled by a leader whose job is to extract heavy taxes from the people and if not fulfilled, he kills them by wrestling with them. One day, he sends some goons to kill her and Hanumant tries to save his ladylove. After being brutally beaten, he falls into a river where he discovers a bright gemstone. He obtains the stone and later discovers that it provides him impeccable powers. After he gets the powers of Hanuman, Hanumant fights for Anjanadri and with the evil to save humanity.
Highlights of the movie
Screenplay: As mentioned before, HanuMan story is unique and Prasanth Varma who is also the writer has presented it beautifully. The movie is about good vs bad and Prasanth ensures to give an entertaining yet impactful story to the viewers. The first half of the movie is hysterical; however, it is the second half that takes a serious hit. It is a decent written story with some flaws but the one that will make the viewers hooked and pique their anticipation is the climax. It gives a different feeling.
Background score: HanuMan has some thrilling background music. Especially during the climax, Hanuman Chalisa plays during an intense action scene that will surely make viewers go bonkers. There are many goosebump-inducing moments and the fast-paced music only enhanced the value of the scene.
Vennela Kishore and Getup Srinu’s performance: Vennela and Getup have amazing comic timing. Their humour level will surely leave you in splits. Their performances make the movie-watching experience 10 times more entertaining
Action: The action sequences are well choreographed. Given that Hanumant possesses the power of a god, the action is OTT. So don’t expect it to be ordinary because he is an extraordinary guy. If Rajinikanth’s one kick can throw the person 20 metres away, his one kick will send you to the mountain’s peak. So don’t think ‘abhi ye zyada hogaya hai’ because you will get to see some anti-gravity stunts but they are quite fun to watch.
Cinematography: Since it is a fictional place, they have created a beautiful place called Anjanadri. It is inspired by the Mahishmati kingdom as we get to see a huge statue of lord Hanuman amid the lush green forest with a waterfall flowing next to him. The cinematic view looks spectacular. There’s so much detailing in the slow-motion shots as well.
Drawbacks of the movie
Visual Effects: Though a few scenes of the movie will remind you of Baahubali, the visual effects are lacking somewhere. In most of the scenes, the VFX looks patchy and glitchy. It looks bad especially when the movie is made on a high budget with poor visual effects.
Climax: The second half of the movie seems dragged and over-dramatic which can hamper your movie-watching experience. Even the pace of the movie becomes problematic in the second half.
Star Performance
Teja Sajja who essays the titular role shines as a superhero. He is a fire in all the action sequences but looks cold during emotional scenes. Nevertheless, Teja delivers a power-packed performance in the movie. Amritha Aiyer plays Hanumant’s love interest in the movie who is strong and beautiful. She plays a fair job in HanuMan. Whereas Varalaxmi Sarathkumar who plays the protagonist’s sister is fierce and feisty. Her performance is just too emotional and endearing. Raj Deepak Shetty gives a decent performance as the cunning sarpanch. On the other hand, Vinay Rai who plays the antagonist doesn’t look convincing as a villain. However, he puts up a reasonable performance.
Conclusion
Concluding the HanuMan review, the Teja Sajja starrer is an entertaining movie that will give you a roller-roster ride of emotions. It is a wholesome movie that seems like a perfect superhero movie for the kids. The film gives Avengers, Baahubali, Pushpa references, making it an interesting watch.
