We have heard about a lot of wars that took place in the history of India. But, we actually had no idea about a war that took place under the sea, a war which we will now get to witness on the big screen. From the first poster itself, ‘The Ghazi Attack’ made us curious to know what it is all about. The trailer and the promos were so engaging that we couldn’t wait to watch the film. So, was it worth the wait? Check it out in ‘The Ghazi Attack’ movie review here…

The movie starts with the partition of East Pakistan and West Pakistan. The officers of West Pakistan want to send some basic necessity materials to their soldiers in East Pakistan. But they have to cross the Indian waters to reach there. Their only concern is INS Vikrant, an aircraft carrier of the Indian Navy. So they decide to destroy it with the help of PNS Ghazi. On the other hand, Indian Naval officers come to know about the plan set by the Pakistanis. They send a submarine, S 21 for a search mission. Officers, Captain Ranvijay Singh (Kay Kay Menon), Lt Commander Arjun Varma (Rana Daggubati), and Executive officer Devraj (Atul Kulkarni) take the lead in S 21. How this search mission turns into a war, forms the rest of the story.

In the beginning itself, there’s a disclaimer that the film is based on real incidents but it has been fictionalised and cinematic liberty has been taken. But, let’s just forget about this disclaimer and concentrate on how brilliantly the film has been written and executed. What really impresses us is that without wasting any time, the movie just goes on point and from first scene itself it keeps us engaged. There are some really powerful moments that will keep you on the edge of the seat. Believe us, there were sequences that actually made our heart pump a bit faster. In such films, editing plays a very important part and A Sreekar Prasad has done that wonderfully. Madhi’s cinematography is also excellent. Not to forget, the visual effects in the film are superb. While watching the film you will surely feel why this film wasn’t made in 3D.

In the acting department, everyone has done a fantastic job. Kay Kay Menon and Atul Kulkarni are outstanding. They have proved what the word experience means. Rana Daggubati is very good in his role, but then unfortunately, Kay Kay and Atul steal the show. It’s good to see the late Om Puri in a brief role.

While the film is filled with some awesome writing, perfect performances and great visual effects, there a few points that disappoint us. The first one, is the character of Taapsee Pannu. The talented actress has been wasted in film. The special appearance doesn’t do justice to her talent. The background score could have been better especially in the climax. And then the climax too falls a bit flat.

On the whole, ‘The Ghazi Attack’ is an engaging film which is a perfect tribute to our unsung heroes. You surely need to watch this one.
