Follow Kar Lo Yaar Review

Uorfi Javed is here with a show titled Follow Karlo Yaar on Amazon Prime and here’s a little review on how the show is and what to expect from this new series. But let’s start with the title of the show, ‘Follow Kar Lo Yaar’ which doesn’t justify the concept of the show. As for the show is concerned, Follow Kar Lo Yaar takes us through the hustle and bustle life of Uorfi Javed. From her work life and equation with her sisters and mother to her battle with insecurities and anxiety, the series touches upon a few aspects of her but only some parts are new like her equation with her family. Uorfi’s life is actually an open book and it’s all-out open in the public domain; so you won’t find surprise elements.

We got a little closer look at Urfi’s chaotic and messed up life. But you also get to know the real URFI JAVED. Apart from being a straightforward girl with cuss words on the tip of her tongue, she is also an ambitious girl who wants to live a larger-than-life life. She wants to earn money and be famous just like superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Urfi Javed takes the viewers through her successful journey with the Follow Kar Lo Yaar show.

What’s good about the show

The boldness of Uorfi Javed: She is bold, she is sassy, she is fashionable but it’s her confidence that sets her apart from everyone. Despite having a messed life, she still ensures some with her hard work and ability to grow. We got her her determination to work harder and how she wants to have a way for herself as a successful entrepreneur. That could be inspiring for many. She carries a facade, she admits to being pretentious, and she admits to doing fillers but accepts that in an industry where you are constantly being judged need guts.

La Familia: This is the first time where we get a closer look at her family and her bonding with her siblings and mother. The series shows us the dysfunctional side of the family and the fights like any other family. The bond and the equations seem real and relatable to some level.

What’s not
Ideologies

Apart from being an ambitious person, some of her ideologies are disturbing. Among many, her definition of beauty standards is nothing something we would agree to even though it’s true in today’s world. Somehow, it seems like it is going to send the wrong message to the young generation and people will get inspired for all the wrong reasons.

Screenplay

The major flaw is the scripting of the series. Just like her life, even the screenplay of the show is chaotic and all over the place. It lacks flow and the spark as well. When a woman named Urfi Javed, who no one knew was making it big in showbiz, needs a better framing with the concept. Coming from zero to becoming a hero is a story to tell but where’s the meat? Everything seems flat and runs in the same tone. There are no high or low points that should have kept you hooked on the show. It hardly sparks the interest to even watch the show till the end. In the show, she says that not a single aspect of her life is hidden. If everything is out, then what’s the point of a 9-episode long show?

When a story is being told about Urfi Javed, people want to know about the journey of her becoming the ‘Uorfi Javed’. It directly focuses on her life post the success. What about the time when she was just a Bigg Boss OTT contestant and now she has become an internet sensation? There was no mention of her initial career. No mention of her struggles and what inspired her to do DIY outfits.

Becomes the next Keeping Up The Kardashians show

It tries hard to be India’s Keeping Up With The Kardashians and you can’t help but make comparisons. Not just with the script but they are trying to make each character like the Kardashians. Uorfi is Kim Kardashian – the star of the family; Asfi Javed is Khloe; Uruusa is Kourtney, who always fights with Urfi; Dolly is Kylie, who is obsessed with her elder sister Urfi, and then there’s Sameer, who is Rob Kardashian and couldn’t care less about his sisters. And last is Zakina Sulatana who is a sweet mother but can be Kris Jenner in this show.

Shows like The Khan Sisters, which was based on the life of Gauahar Khan and Nigaar Khan, Fabulous Lives Of Bollywood Lives, which is about the life of Bollywood wives, and Moving In with Malaika, which is about Malla’s Life, have juicy content. These shows have some meat and engaging content unfortunately, Follow Kar Lo Yaar lacks those qualities. It would have been a fun watch otherwise.

Personalities

For the record, all the sisters look beautiful onscreen. Since they are not professional actors, here’s a little observation about their personalities. Dolly Javed seems like she wants to be the next Urfi but we didn’t see her personality or how she is as an individual. It seems lost. Asif Javed is an aspiring actor who is emotional and sensitive. Uruusa is not ambitious or focused but thrives on proving herself in the family and tries to shine. Sameer Aslam is aloof but very smart and practical. A sweet brother who’s always there for his family. Zakina Sultana is the sweetest and most innocent mother who tries to keep her kids together despite her hardships.

Conclusion

Overall in the review, Follow Kar Lo Yaar shows the life of Uorfi Javed that needs no 9 episodes as it could have easily wrapped up in 5 episodes. However, this kind of show will cater to certain audiences who like such content. If you love content like knowing the life journey of a person and the drama, then Follow Kar Lo Yaar is your show. People like us who don’t see any interest in such content will never be able to relate to it. In our office, there are two sets of people who have enjoyed and disliked the show. This only brings us to one conclusion if you’re interested in knowing Uorfi’s life, you will enjoy it thoroughly.
