Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video Review
Written and directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is set in 1997 Rishikesh and tells the chaotic story that unfolds when Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) and Vidya’s (Tripti Dimri) home is broken into and an R-rated video of theirs is stolen. Alongside the lead stars, we are also introduced to the film’s in-theory funny characters like Mallika Sherawat’s Chanda Rani and Vijay Raaz’s Inspector character.
Do Vicky and Vidya get their hands on the stolen video? Do Chanda and the inspector fall in love?? What the story behind the graveyard scene we saw at the end of the trailer? To know these answers you will need to watch VVKWWV. But first, read out Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video review as we DO NOT recommend it.
What Works
Vijay Raaz and Mallika Sherawat’s comedy and chemistry.
What Doesn’t Work
Acting by the lead cast – aka Rajkummar and Tripti, the story, the editing, the direction – you name it. It’s loud and pretty much nothing clicks.
Technical Analysis
Story & Screenplay
Written by Raaj Shaandilyaa, with screenplay penned by Raaj, Yusuf Ali Khan, Ishrat Khan and Rajan Agarwal, VVKWWV has a never-ending plot. During the 2.5 hours, the Raj-Tripti starrer will make you feel like you aren’t watching 1 but at least 2-3 films. The writing seems mediocre and the dialogue copy-pasted from dad jokes and WhatsApp forwards.
Direction
Raaj Shaandilyaa has failed to impress us with his direction.
Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video Star Cast
Rajkummar Rao and Tripti Dimri – who are normally praised for their acting, fail to impress the audience as Vicky and Vidya. While Raj pretty much overacts for the entire duration, it’s seems like Tripti has forgotten the ‘a’ of acting. The actress carries an expressionless face during scenes that break one’s concentration.
Vijay Raaz and Mallika Sherawat are the only saving grace in this film as they do make you laugh and have you hooked on their nok-jhok love story. The remaining star cast, including Mukesh Tiwari, Rakesh Bedi, Tiku Talsania and Ashwini Kalsekar perform average and leave an impression of being caricaturish and over the top.
Conclusion
While the trailer may have raised your hopes for the Rajkummar-Tripti starrer, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is worth skipping. It is lacking in almost every department and will result in you leaving the theatres with a dissatisfied soul and headache. Watch at your own risk.
