Anushka Sharma’s ‘Phillauri‘ remained stable at the box office on its first Tuesday as the movie did a similar business on Monday. The numbers in Maharashtra were slightly better due to Gudi Padwa holiday. The movie did a business of Rs 1.75 crore on Tuesday, taking the total five day business to Rs 17.50 crore. The movie seems to be struggling with high numbers at the box office and it looks like the movie will reach around Rs 20 crore by this weekend. With really good promotions and presence of two big faces, Anushka Sharma and Diljit Dosanjh, the movie was expected to do much better, but with not-so-good word of mouth publicity and mixed reviews, it didn’t make the desired impact.
In East Punjab, the movie has done a business of approximately Rs 4.40 crore nett and it’s said to be the highest collection in any circuit. But overall, the numbers could have been much higher.
The movie was pitted against Swara Bhaskar-starrer ‘Anaarkali Of Aarah’ which seems to have got very poor numbers. What works for ‘Phillauri’ is the fact that the movie did not have a lavish budget and it’s easy to recover the profits. ‘Phillauri’ is helmed by Anshai Lal and produced by Fox Star Studios and Clean Slate Films.
