‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ witnesses a drop at the box office, on its second day

After doing a business of Rs 15 crore on the first day, Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma-starrer ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ was expected to do better on the second day which is a Saturday. But unfortunately, the movie witnessed a slight drop by 5% on numbers as it did a business of Rs 14.25 crore on its second day at the box office. After doing a business of Rs 15 crore on the first day, this Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma-starrer was expected to do better on the second day, which also marks the start of weekend, but seems like that could not be the case. The combined collection of two days is Rs 28.25 crore nett.

Honestly, the numbers are not up to the mark. Considering the star power of SRK and the huge promotions, high numbers were expected. As per the predictions the first three days, i.e. the first weekend, should get approximately Rs 50 crores, but going by the performance and the drop on Saturday, this seems unlikely now. Usually, big budget movies see a hike in collections on the second day, but ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ has gone the reverse way, and that can be blamed on the bad audience and critic reviews that are pouring in. The movie also has a benefit of Raksha Bandhan holiday on Monday, but there is very little scope for it, unless their is a miracle and it performs exceptionally well on Sunday and Monday.The numbers are low almost everywhere except for Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, NCR and Bangalore. In fact, Kolkota also saw a drop in numbers. The maximum numbers are pouring in from Mysore.

This will be the first film of Shah Rukh Khan to earn below Rs 50 crore mark for the weekend after ‘Don 2’ in 2011. This doesn’t count his ‘Dear Zindagi’ where he has a supporting role. His movie ‘Fan’ also had managed to earn Rs 52 crore nett plus, so it’s really disappointing as there were high hopes from this movie. Let’s wait and watch as to what is going to be the fate of the love story of Harry and Sejal on the box office.
