‘JHMS’ collection goes from bad to worse on its first Tuesday

This year, box office has not been good to many Bollywood films. Except ‘Baahubali 2’, which too was not a Bollywood film per se, none of the films have managed to score big at the box office. Well, we thought that Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma’s recently released film ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal would change the norm, but we have been proved wrong. Despite Shah Rukh Khan’s star power, this Imtiaz Ali directorial has turned out to be a dud at the box office. The numbers are too low for a Shah Rukh Khan film.

On its first Tuesday, ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ managed to mint only Rs 3 crore at the box office. First Monday collection was Rs 6.75 crore. The film has witnessed a drop of 50% and it is totally unexpected for a Shah Rukh Khan film. Looks like his star power has failed to do its magic this time. The total collection of ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ after five days stands at Rs 53.75 crore which is horrible.

The failure of ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ could be because of the negative reviews that the film received. Many critics bashed this film to the core and even the audience apparently did not like the film. The negative word of mouth too amounted to the failure of the movie.

Now, we await Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’. The film that holds a social message against open defecation practice which is still prevalent in many rural areas of the country. The movie will be making it to the theatres on August 11, 2017. Let’s see whether it proves to be a game-changer at the box office or not! The buzz is high so we hope that ‘TEPK’ manages to turn the tables and bring some respite to the otherwise dry state of box office.
