Salman Khan’s much-anticipated film of the year ‘Tubelight‘ made it to the theatres this Friday, but unfortunately, it could not manage to shine with flying colours. It was an Eid release and the film was expected to break records at the box office, but unfortunately, ‘Tubelight’ could not connect with the audiences much. It had a normal start at the box office and then witnessed a slight drop on day 2, that was, Saturday. But on Sunday, ‘Tubelight’ seems to have picked up as the collections matched to that of day 1. On Sunday, this film accumulated Rs 22.25 crore at the box office, which is better than the Saturday day collection of Rs 19.75 crore. As per statistics, the weekend collection of ‘Tubelight’ is approximately Rs 62.75Â crore.
Directed by Kabir Khan, ‘Tubelight’ received mixed reviews from the critics. While some appreciated the story and intention of the movie, some were highly disappointed with Salman’s performance. ‘Tubelight’ is high on emotions and less on action, unlike Salman’s other films. This could be the reason why despite being a pre-Eid release, ‘Tubelight’ has not been able to mint moolah at the box office. So in all, ‘Tubelight’ turned out to be an average film.
