Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known to tell stories with much grandeur. ‘Black’, however, was subtle, closer to life, and yet it stirred our souls. Based on the life story of Helen Keller, the film garnered wide critical acclaim.
As today marks the 12th anniversary of the film, we remember Rani Mukerji’s stellar act in the same. But, apart from her, Amitabh Bachchan in the role of her teacher too had us mesmerised.
Bachchan dedicated his today’s blog to ‘Black’ and revealed how he worked without charging a single penny for this film! (Also Read: Amitabh Bachchan tweets a complaint to Vodafone, gets an instant reply from Reliance Jio!)
“I had just wanted to work with Sanjay, after seeing all his other works he had done… And when the opportunity came it was quite overwhelming. I did not take any salary for the film… Just being a part of such an enterprise, was sufficient fees,” Big B wrote.
“12 years of its release… And each and every detail that accompanied it has been engraved on stone for me,” he added.
‘Black’ fetched him his second National Award in the Best Actor category.
Thank you for making such a wonderful film happen, team ‘Black’! 🙂
