Aamir Khan has given us some of the best films in his long journey in Bollywood. The actor, known to precisely handle any project, has now undertaken a new task. He has decided to save his blockbusters for posterity. To discuss on how to preserve his cinematic journey and protect them from ravages of time, he had a small get together of Mumbai’s leading producers at his Bandra apartment. The first question the ‘Dangal’ star put forward to his guests was on how to archive his films, for years to come.
Sources revealed, “All of Mumbai’s leading producers were invited to a small party at Aamir’s home to discuss how they could help him out (they own the films’ rights). Aditya Chopra (‘Fanaa’, ‘Dhoom:3’), Ritesh Sidhwani (‘Dil Chahta Hai’), Siddharth Roy Kapur (co-producer of ‘Dangal’, ‘Dhobi Ghat’, ‘Peepli: Live’ and ‘Delhi Belly’), Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra (‘Rang De Basanti’) and Sajid Nadiadwala were all on the guest list, but Adi didn’t show up.”
Sources added, “Earlier, films were shot on reels, now they are all digitally shot. Aamir wants to do it himself. He’s requested the producers for the concerned film’s rights, asked them if they were on the same page as him and if they were, how he should go about it. The only odd man present was Sajid Nadiadwala, who hasn’t done a film with Aamir yet. But that’s okay, since Aamir wanted the inputs of all the top producers of Bollywood.”
Sometimes ago, Khan had united leading Mumbai’s distributors and producers Anil Thadani, Siddharth Roy Kapur and Karan Johar to fight the monopoly of multiplexes who laid terms and conditions for the release of films. Their merger helped to break the monopoly. At present he is busy with his biopic ‘Dangal’.
