Akshay Kumar’s recently released film ‘Rustom’ has made a record breaking business at the box office. But apparently, some people aren’t happy with the way it has been projected. Reports are doing the rounds that Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan was quite keen on talking up this story of KM Nanavati and reproducing it on celluloid. He had even started doing a research over the case, but somehow the project didn’t fall in place.
Sources say, “Aamir was very eager to do a film on the case. He was collaborating with director Ram Madhvani on the same. After the director helmed the true-life account in Neerja effectively, Aamir felt Madhvani was the best filmmaker to piece together the intricate jigsaw pieces of the real-life Nanavati case.”
Adding further, the source revealed how disappointed they were after watching ‘Rustom’. He said, “Some of us, who were researching for the project, are disheartened after seeing ‘Rustom’. It has very little to do with the case. The tone of our film was going to be totally different. It’s one of the most important cases of our times and deserved to be brought to celluloid with some responsibility.”
‘Rustom’ directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and produced under the banner of Zee Studios, has Ileana D’cruz and Esha Gupta in pivotal roles.
