National award-winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar was stuck in trouble, after actress Preeti Jain had lodged a complaint at the Versova police in July 2004 stating that the director had raped her 16 times between 1999 and 2004, also promising to cast her as the lead actress in his films.
Preeti also claimed that Bhandarkar had promised to marry her but later refused to do so after using her. And now, after 13 years, the director can finally take a sigh of relief. (Also Read: Madhur Bhandarkar denies signing Radhika Apte for his next)
Preeti, along with two others has now been accused and convicted for giving money to gangsters to kill Madhur Bhandarkar in 2005. Not just this, she has also been sentenced to 3 years of jail term.
In September 2011, the police had filed a report that claimed that the given case against Bhandarkar was false. But the trial court, rejected the report and had held that there was prima facie case against Bhandarkar.
It was last year, in 2016, that Mumbai trial court, while investigating Jain’s complaint, asked Bhandarkar to face the trial. Even then, Madhur had challenged the lower court’s order before the high court which too had rejected his plea.
But now finally, the court has convicted Preeti Jain in the case.
