Adnan Sami’s new-born daughter has to apply for Indian citizenship. Here’s why…

It was a few days back that the singer Adnan Sami shared a good news of him becoming a proud father. He and his wife Roya Faryabi are blessed with a baby girl whom they have named Medina Sami Khan. As many of Adnan’s fans would know that it was in the year 2016 that the singer had received his certificate of Indian citizenship. And now, it is his new-born daughter who has to apply for her Indian citizenship as she holds a German citizenship by birth.

Recently, while giving an interview to a leading daily the singer was asked about the same(of German citizenship). Not many would be aware, but the singer had to go through a long process before he received his Indian citizenship. So he was asked to share his views over his daughter’s German citizenship, to which he replied saying, “So what? That doesn’t stop her from being a Hindustani. She will eventually come to India and we’ll apply for her Indian citizenship. Mumbai is home to us. Medina was born in Munich because Roya’s family lives in Germany and she had five sisters to help her while I was travelling for work.” (Also Read: Adnan Sami: Pakistanis see terrorism and Pakistan as same)

Further, he even spoke about his inspiration behind naming his daughter Medina saying, “Yes, I have named her after the city of Medina, which embraced Prophet Mohammed when he was forced to leave Mecca. Even today, the city is known for its love and hospitality. It’s also here that you’ll hear the most beautiful Azaan, immersing you in a wave of spirituality. So, I felt that Medina was an apt name for my baby.”

This is the second time Adnan has become a father. He has a son from his first marriage to actress Zeba Bakhtiar named Azaan Sami Khan.

Adnan Sami had last appeared on big screen with his qawwali song ‘Bhar Do Jholi Meri’ in Salman Khan-starrer ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.
