Raja Krishna Menon’s directorial debutĀ ‘Airlift’ starring Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur is set on the backdrops of 1990 Gulf war. After Saddam Hussain invaded Kuwait, Air India rescued a record number of Indians safely from the country, which made to The Guinness Book of World Records. The duo recently finished shooting for the film. The final installment of filming was of a romantic song called “Soch”.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is finding a striking similarity between his film’s plot and the relief operation going on in Chenai to help the flood victims. Incidentally, the director himself has relatives who were stranded amidst the flood. “This is exactly how it was in Kuwait during Saddam’s invasion. The shock and surprise of the flood is very similar to Saddam’s invasion of Kuwait”- he said.
Seems like ‘Airlift’ is going to be a gut-wrenching one!
