Amitabh Bachchan clears the air about ‘Golden Thali’

Bollywood’s megastar Amitabh Bachchan‘s picture having lunch with Southern star Prabhu and his family has recently gone viral on social network. The Shahenshah was much criticized for having lunch in a Golden Thali in a developing nation like India, where many cannot afford a single meal a day sometimes.

Southern star Prabhu and his family along with Amitabh Bachchan had dined in traditional style at the actors family home. This was after the megastar had shot for advertisement for Kalyan Jewellers along with certain superstars of South. The picture went viral on social network, soon speculations were rife that the food was partaken in Golden Thalis.

Speaking in his defence Amitabh Bachchan has cleared the air on Prabhu’s Golden Thali on his blog. The megastar shared the message below from Prabhu on his blog:

Shri Amitabh Bachchan, was visiting our home for the first time after our father,Shr.Sivaji Ganesan’s passing.The visit of Mr.Bachchan was very special to our family.He came home to pay respect to my father and spend time with our family.It was a traditional,vegetarian lunch. It was served on banana leaves on copper coloured plates and utensils.The plates and vessels are not gold as some people are making them out to be.It was a very sentimental occasion for us.Please don’t try to turn this special occasion into a joke.

Amitabh Bachchan too added his clarifications, he said, “Clarifications in today’s times if not done, tend to be treated as a given fact. I would not have considered this, but I think that with the kind of facilities available in the communication medium, it is imperative that we utilize this opportunity to give perhaps a clearer picture.”
