Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who has been chosen as the Tiger ambassador of Maharashtra to promote eco-tourism and Tiger conservation, flagged off a biker rally from his residence Janak in Juhu here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion the 73-year-old said: “Being an ambassador, its my privilege to flag off the rally. Lot of people will get information about the cause with this rally. These bikers will ride seven days in different locations and will do publicity and will tell the people how to save the tiger.”
Maharashtra forest minister Sudhir Mungantiwar was also present on the occasion.
“The bikers will visit villages located near tiger reserves. They will interact with the people living in the vicinity of these reserves and explain to them the importance of forests and conservation of wild animals,” said Mungantiwar.
Not less than 20 bikers started their seven-day journey from Janak while three bikers will join the rally from Nagpur. These bikers will not only travel to four tiger reserves in the state but will travel 1000 kilometers to the final destination Tadoba Tiger reserve in Chandrapur.
The rally is aimed to promote conservation of wild animals and forests.
