Anupam Kher is now famous for all the virtual wars he rushes into; on the micro-blogging site Twitter. Earlier after Aamir Khan’s statement on the growing intolerance in India which provoked massive controversy, Kher was found furious over Twitter, criticising the ‘Taare Zameen Par’ actor. It has happened yet again! This time the opponent is Shashi Tharoor.
While being interviewed by a news channel, Kher was quoted saying “I’m scared today to say openly that I’m a Hindu.”. The veteran actor is a proclaimed BJP follower and has been focusing on the issues of the displaced Kashmiri Pundits. He as well firmly criticised all thr award winning filmmakers and writers who were returning their awards as a gesture against instances of communal violences and intolerance in India. He as well led a march on the same issue to the President of India. Shashi Tharoor, who happens to be a Congress MP, responded to Kher’s comment writing “”Come on Anupam. I say it all the time. I’m a proud Hindu. Just not the Sangh’s kind of Hindu”..!
Ooh..that was strong! However, Anupam Kher is not someone who would back off. “Come on Shashi. Never thought you will misinterpret my statement like trolls do. And behave like a Congi Chamcha,”- he replied.
“Abuse, @AnupamPkher, is what you use when you run out of arguments. I’m a proud MP of @INCIndia & I don’t resort to insults. #CongiChamcha”- re-replied Tharoor!
Kher, was recently honoured with the Padma Bhushan from the Government of India.
We wonder if there’s an award for virtual wars he can be honoured with!
