Arjun Kapoor on his fans

Arjun Kapoor says he does not mind taking selfies with fans but also feels that one should not judge the actors if at times, they refuse to oblige.

Though personally not a fan of taking photos, Arjun said he understands the selfie-obsession of fans.

“I believe each picture taken is a ticket sold. They are not going to meet me ever again. This is one memory of me they will always have so I would not want to ruin that. Saying no becomes difficult for that reason,” said Arjun.

“Taking picture does have an effect on fans. It changes the way they think of you. I don’t want someone to say, ‘He refused a picture with me, so I don’t want to watch his movie’. But, I hope fans understand too that we can also have our bad days. They should not judge us for saying no.”

The 30-year-old “2 States” star is currently seen hosting celebrity show “Khatron Ke Khiladi” on Colors, his debut on the small screen.

Arjun, who brings a Bollywood twist to the stunt-based series, said he is not an avid television watcher but found “Khatron Ke Khiladi” exciting enough to take it up.

“The makers came to me with a certain plan. I was confident of what they wanted from me. It is the coolest show on Indian television, a premium franchise. It is like ‘Dhoom’ series of small screen.”

The show previously had hosts like Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra and Rohit Shetty but Arjun feels comparisons with them are futile as he has tried creating his own style.

“I haven’t followed the show properly so I don’t really have any reference point, which is a good thing. I have tried creating my style than emulating anyone.”

“Comparing me with Akshay sir would be an insult to him, Rohit sir is a director so he has a different way of hosting and Priyanka, being a woman, has her own style.”

The actor said he brings a breathing space to the show, which is heavy on action and thrill.

“I bring a relief, casualness to the show. I think that was missing from all seasons. The show has been very serious, what it lacked was a breathing space. I provide that.”

Arjun’s television outing marks his first on-screen appearance post 2015’s action film “Tevar” and the actor thinks the one year break has worked in his favour.

“Out of sight is sometimes good because you can come back fresh. The fact that I was not seen on screen for a year makes it interesting for the audience to see me in ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ and then in something totally different with ‘Ki & Ka’.”

The “Gunday” star added he is finally at a place in his career where he can afford to be selective and take breaks between projects.

“When you are starting you cannot plan. You take whatever comes your way… Now, I am finally in a decent position. I can choose from the films I am offered. I can make my own choices and be selective. So, now I can take breaks between different events and movies if I want to.”

On the film front, Arjun will be next seen in R Balki’s “Ki & Ka” and then start working on Mohit Suri’s “Half Girlfriend”.
