‘Begum Jaan’ first poster: Vidya Balan-starrer to release on April 14

Vidya Balan is all set for her next film, ‘Begum Jaan’ whose poster was released recently. The actress took to her Twitter handle to share the poster of the film, along with its release date, which is 14th of April this year.

She shared the first poster and captioned it, ’14th April it is.”

The movie is touted to be a Hindi adaptation of Bengali movie ‘Rajkahini’, and will be helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Srijit Mukherji. ‘Begum Jaan’ also marks Srijit’s directorial debut in Bollywood. It was only a few days back that the look of Vidya from the film was unveiled, which had her smoking a hookah.

The film also features Naseeruddin Shah, Gauahar Khan and Pallavi Sharda in lead roles. It is set against the backdrop of the time when Bengal was undergoing a partition. It also shows communal riots which took place back then. Madam is that displaced woman who has faced hard times fearlessly.

In ‘Rajkahani’, popular Bengali actress, Rituparna Sengupta had played Begum Jaan. Apart from ‘Begum Jaan’, Vidya will also be seen in ‘Tumhari Sullu,’ playing a RJ.
