Renowned actor Pankaj Tripathi will be seen playing a headmaster in Ashwin Iyer Tiwari’s ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ which stars Swara Bhaskar in the lead role. Tripathi, who belongs to a non-glamorous background which is in no way associated to the world of showbiz, believes that Bollywood is equally open to and receptive towards those who come from a non-film background.
“If I was a star kid, I’d probably take lesser time to debut. I am not, it would take me three-four years instead. But if I do not prove myself worthy enough, I’d lose out soon. In any case, you have to prove yourself as a performer. That way, the industry is open to anyone who is deserving,” he said.
What is that one character that he’d love to play?
“I am deeply moved by the occurrences that take place in the world around. The way farmers in our country are suffering really saddens me. I am a farmer’s son, I have done it myself. I would be more than glad to play a farmer on-screen,” the actor said.
In ‘Nil Battey Sannata’, we would catch Pankaj Tripathi as a loving and broad-minded teacher who believes in kindling the light of education. The film is slated to release on April 22.
