We were at the launch event of the song ‘Ye Jawaani Teri’ from ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’ and the stars Parineeti Chopra and Ayushmann Khurrana started off really well by entertaining us with their musical skills. They sung live and set the mood right for the event. But soon, they were bombarded with questions, and one after the other controversial thoughts started pouring in. One such topic of discussion at the event was Kulbhushan Jadhav’s death sentence pronounced by the government of Pakistan.
With a lot of people including celebrities calling for justice for Kulbhushan, Parineeti and Ayushmann too were asked to share their opinion on the same. Both of them had quite a balanced answer.
Parineeti said, “I really feel that I am the least important and least worthy to comment on this genuinely. Our government is on it. They are dealing it with the way they should and they will do their best for the country and the person involved. So I don’t think my opinion really matters here.”
When further probed about how celebrities are expected to be vigil and comment on the issues that matter the nation, she said, “If I don’t have the interest then I shouldn’t be forced to give an opinion just because I am in front of you, that’s what I personally feel. Those who want to comment… they comment, those who don’t want to… don’t. It is a democracy but I guess we are forgetting that.”
This reminded us of the event that took place during the trailer launch of Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon’s ‘Raabta’. Sushant was asked to comment on the same issue and he lost his calm when a media personnel kept probing him consistently.
