Bollywood hunk Arjun Rampal known for his chiselled looks, is a busy man with three films on the floor. The actor has recently wrapped up upcoming thriller ‘Kahaani 2‘ that also stars Vidya Balan in pivotal role. Now the actor was spotted shooting for his first gangsta film ‘Daddy’. He will be reliving the role of Mumbai’s notorious underworld don turned politician Arun Gawli fondly called as Daddy by his gang members.
Rampal, was spotted while shooting a courtroom scene in South Mumbai. He bore an uncanny resemblance to Arun Gawli. Not only did Arjun look comfortable but also natural in the role of the politician. To get into the skin of the character Arjun Rampal reduced his weight considerably because Gawli is a lean person. Arjun had even met Gawli to learn his mannerism and other minute things that will add authenticity to his role.
Here’s a little insight – ‘Daddy: The Only One Who Did Not Run’ was launched at the Orchid Hotel and Arjun Rampal, who has been signed to play the titular role in the film, was present on the occasion. Directed by Gaurav Bavdankar and produced by Mandar Dalvi, Daddy will portray the rise of local thug Arun Gawli to becoming an MLA.
Sources said, “Like underworld don Haji Mastan, Arun Gawli’s life story is packed with emotions, anger and his compassion to the underprivileged section of the society, who crowned him as their Neta. The movie will portray how he rose from a petty burglar staying in the chawls of Mumbai to turning into a feared underworld don and building his empire at Dagdi Chawl in Byculla (Mumbai), the official den of Gawli where nobody (Including the police) cannot enter without his permission.”
The film also stars South star Aishwarya Rajesh in the role of Gawli’s wife. The makers have decided to wrap up the shoot of the film by next month.
