In the month of March, actress Deepika Padukone who was promoting her first Hollywood movie ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’ had to face a really embarrassing situation when people at the LAX Airport addressed her as Priyanka Chopra. Yes, the actress was actually referred as Priyanka when she exited from the airport. So, recently when the actress was asked about the incident, she termed it as “racist” and said it wasn’t fair. She said, “Not just me or Priyanka (Chopra), everyone in this room should be offended because it is racist of them to call two people from the same country by the same name.” Well said! Last week, Priyanka Chopra too had spoken on the incident with Bollywood Life, wherein she had said, “I did see that (video) and you know that’s just ignorance and it’s not right. I guess I’m the most popular brown face that everyone has known. Every brown girl does not look the same. Don’t mistake it. Let’s try and tell us apart. That was not right and it’s not fair she’s a massive star from India.”
She had further added, “But it’s also, like I understand I guess. When I went to America for the first time, at least Deepika’s had a film (xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage). When I went to America for the first time I would walk into the room and introduce myself. I don’t expect people to know me either, because it’s a different country. Just because I’m a popular star in India doesn’t mean the whole world has to know me. Just because I’m a Bollywood actor doesn’t mean people who do not watch Hindi movies have to know me. I’m not entitled like that. I guess that is another aspect of this.”
Passionate about writing, and a Bollywood lover, she is all that is sweet and endearing! She desires to put her best foot forward in everything that she does and loves to help anyone who’s in need.
