Sanjay Dutt and director Indra Kumar on 'Total Dhamaal'

Sanjay Dutt has wrapped up the shooting of his comeback film ‘Bhoomi’. Post the same, the actor has signed on some more interesting projects, like ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3’, ‘Torbaaz’ and ‘Malang’. Due to his tight schedule, the actor had to walk out from the popular ‘Dhamaal’ franchise which is planning its third instalment in the series titled ‘Total Dhamaal’. But, reports suggest that there was another reason too, behind this decision of his.

Sources stated, “Besides the issue of unavailability of dates, Dutt was not okay with the film’s adult comedy. He doesn’t want his children to see him in a film that has innuendo-laden jokes or crass humour.” [sic] The rumours even reported that actor Riteish Deshmukh has also backed out of the third part. (Also Read: A royal Sanjay Dutt returns with his gangster shades for ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3’)

But, putting an end to all these rumours, director Indra Kumar has come out with his statement. He expressly said that Sanjay Dutt will not be part of the project, but the issue was never about the content of adult comedy. He went on to say that like the previous two instalments of the franchise, ‘Total Dhamaal’ will also be a complete family entertainer.

He said, “‘Total Dhamaal’ is an out and out family entertainer, just like ‘Dhamaal‘ and ‘Double Dhamaal‘.” [sic]

“While the news is true that we have parted amicably with Sanju for the film, I further want to clarify that Riteish is very much a part of the superhit franchise and there is absolutely no adult content in ‘Total Dhamaal’,” added the director. [sic]

Certainly, looking at the packed schedule of Sanjay Dutt, perhaps it wasn’t possible for the actor to do ‘Total Dhamaal’. However, given the trend of including double-meaning dialogues and explicit content in the name of comedy, we wonder if reports of ‘Total Dhamaal’ being an adult comedy are true. Only time will tell.

Well, Indra Kumar’s statement should put a rest to all the rumours now.
