Didn’t think about Box office while making Bajirao, says Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest directorial venture ‘Bajirao Mastani’ has gained wide appreciations both from the viewers and critics. Bhansali, who waited for 12 long years to execute his dream projects, must be joyous with positive reviews pouring in. However, when it comes to box office collections, the film sadly isn’t topping the chart. What does the maker have to say about this?

“I just wanted to make a beautiful film, be honest and truthful towards something which I have lived for 12 years. It was my tribute to Mughal-e-Azam and that was all I was thinking of while making this film. I was not thinking of the box office collection…I am offering something that is different”- Bhansali said.

If you’ve watched the film, you would agree with us. Deepika Padukone, throughout the film, looks just radiant. Mastani is someone what Madhubala and Meena Kumari did in their heydays. Deepika has never ever gone over the top. No woman has ever looked so beautiful on the Indian screen in the longest time. It’s a dear character to me”- the director said, while talking about Padukone’s look in the film.

“Deep down my favourite character is Mastani. I would take Deepika’s performance till the last breath of my life. It’s that dear to me,”- he added.

Well, we don’t think we are forgetting Deepika’s mesmerizing look as Mastani any time soon either!
