The trailer of ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha‘ has reasoned out why this film is termed to be a controversial one. Probably, for the first time we have somebody talking about female desires and fantasies, and that is something the society cannot associate with. The film was not given a clearance initially but then CBFC had to grant certificate to this film after receiving orders from FCAT. Ekta Kapoor was the one who openly came to support this film. In her recent interview with a news agency, she spoke at length about this film.
She started with, “When I heard about the film (‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’, I was pretty sure that it’ll be something boring. But when I saw the film, I thought it’s an entertaining and empowering film. It’s very, very strong.”
“We don’t talk about things that exist in women’s lives. We have been told for years to brush things under the carpet. We have been told for years that things that belong to us — like our own bodies — are not meant for pleasure, they are only meant for reproduction,” she further said.
Talking about CBFC not granting certification to the film, she said, “I have huge respect for Nihalani (CBFC chairman Pahlaj Nihalani) and I’m sure he has a thought process behind what he is doing. I have huge respect for the censor board and I am not contesting what they are doing.”
‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ is slated to release on July 21. (Also Read: Ekta Kapoor explains whom the middle finger on ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ poster was for)
