‘Quick Gun Murugun’ director Anand Surapur is back with ‘The Fakir of Venice’, a dark comedy inspired by true events. Actor Farhan Akhtar has been brought on board to play the lead role, and will be seen essaying filmmaker Homi Adajania’s role in the film.
Adajania had made his directorial debut with ‘Being Cyrus’. Following that, he went on to make ‘Finding Fanny’, a critically acclaimed satire. And now, his real life experiences have turned plot for a film!
‘The Fakir of Venice’ revolves around a conman who is on lookout for a Fakir who can bury himself into the sand for the purpose of an installation art project in Venice. However, he comes across a slum-dweller from Mumbai, and not a real Fakir. (Also Read: Shraddha Kapoor laughs at a portal for writing crap about her and Farhan Akhtar’s mother)
The film landed itself amidst controversies when Surapur was accused of cheating a Pune based media and entertainment firm after mortgaging the project to Reliance.
Produced by Punit Desai, it is slated for a release later this year.
