Fawad Khan was never approached for ‘Padmavati’

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set to create one more historical grandeur with his next flick ‘Rani Padmavati’. While Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s presence in the film are already confirmed, there were speculations that Pakistani actor Fawad Khan might be playing the role of Deepika’s husband in the film. However, Bhansali himself has dismissed any such possibility.

“Fawad was never even considered, let alone offered, Rani Padmavati. He was briefly considered for another project that Sanjay Bhansali was to produce, though not direct. As for Rani Padmavati two of the three principal cast members have already been locked in. The third is yet to be firmed in. It will be done in the next week.” a source close to Bhansali revealed.

Parts of the press have been suggesting various names as the possible on-screen husband of Deepika in ‘Rani Padmavati’. Apart from Fawad, the list includes Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Shahid Kapoor.

Bhansali is quite surprised to see how new names are popping up everyday, even though he himself never announced any.

“I keep hearing announcements of my own film’s cast. Names that I’ve never considered let alone met are being thrown around. I’ve been busy recording the songs. Now the cast will be finalized and announced soon.” he stated to a leading portal.

Let us wait and see who bags the role finally!
