Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar is leaving no stone unturned for the promotions of his upcoming courtroom drama thriller ‘Pink‘. Starring Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles, this movie is been making the right kind of noise about tackling with various sensitive issues, especially women’s safety. Known for helming content-driven films like ‘Vicky Donor’ and ‘Madras Cafe’, Shoojit recently said that the non-commercial films are getting into the zone of commercial category whereas the actual commercial movies are turning cliche.
While talking to an agency, Shoojit was asked that would he call his production venture ‘Pink’ a commercial or non-commercial one? To which he replied saying, “I think these days, non-commercial films are commercial films and commercial films are cliche films. I think there is no such bracket for my films. All my films are content-driven and this film (‘Pink’) is a thrilling film.”
“I have nothing against commercial films because there is an audience for them. I hardly watch commercial films but I have nothing against them. My films are completely offbeat. There is an audience for both kind of films,” added the director.
Directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, ‘Pink’ also stars Kirti Kulhari, Andrea Taring and Angad Bedi in pivotal roles.
It is slated to release on September 16, 2016.
