Perfectionist Aamir Khan completes 28 years in Bollywood today. Given his tremendous fan following, ’28 YEARS OF AAMIR KHAN’ made it to the Twitter trends in India. Aamir had debuted with the chirpy Juhi Chawla in ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’. The quintessential tale of young love and heartache had released on April 29, 1988, and soon landed the actor with cuteness overloaded in the hallowed halls of stardom. His performance in the film earned him a mention at the 36th National Film Awards ceremony.
After churning out a number of flicks out of which some were hits and some misses, he decided to be choosy about his work. This quality of doing one film a year and concentrating fully on it, has had him maintaining his status of a superstar in Bollywood for 28 years.
The actor with a Midas touch, who prefers to choose quality over quantity had confessed four years ago, “My decision is that I would not sign another film for the money. I would not do a film for just a big banner or a big director. I would only do a film if my heart was convinced about the script. For the last 24 years, I was firm about my decision. I have always kept a non-compromising attitude when it comes to quality. It has truly helped me in the long run.”
Aamir Khan later launched his production company named ‘Aamir Khan Productions’ whose first film ‘Lagaan’ garnered him immense appreciation and awards too. ‘Mangal Pandey’, ‘Ghajini’, ‘Fanaa’, ‘Taare Zameen Par’, ‘Talaash’ and many others have established him as an actor par excellence.
After the stupendous success of ‘Dhoom 3’, ‘PK’ he will now be seen in the avatar of a middle-aged wrestler Mahavir Phogat in ‘Dangal’. Aamir has given all he could to the movie. He had not only gained a lot of weight to add authenticity to his character, but even gave a nod to playing father to grown up daughters. ‘Dangal’ will hit the screens on December 23, 2016 a date that is considered lucky by the actor.
Wishing Aamir the best on completing 28 years in Bollywood, may he entertain us for many more years to come.
