It’s confirmed! Priyanka Chopra finally signs her next Bollywood film, Kalpana Chawla biopic

Priyanka Chopra has been doing a lot of stints in the West and has been pretty successful at all of it. Now, the actress is finally back in the country and the mystery surrounding her next Bollywood film is solved.

PeeCee returned to Mumbai last week after spending a long time in the USA. Her last Bollywood film was ‘Jai Gangaajal’, post which the lady had shifted her focus on her American show ‘Quantico’ and her Hollywood debut film ‘Baywatch’. A leading tabloid reports that the actress’ team has been involved in the project for over a year now and the script has finally been locked. The movie will be directed by debutante Priya Mishra, who herself confirmed the news and said, “I have been working on it for the past seven years. A new production banner will back the project.”

The director has also met Kalpana’s parents as part of her research of the film. She adds, “I was last heading a TV channel creatively and post 2011, quit to pursue filmmaking. This is one of the two scripts that I have written.” Adds another source, “The film will be mounted on an international scale. A new production company, Getway, is likely to produce the biopic.”

Kalpana Chawla, was the first Indian woman astronaut to visit space. It was in her second expedition with six crew members in February 2003, that her space shuttle exploded and killed all the members aboard. She had spent 31 days, 14 hours and 54 minutes in space.
