Jiah Khan case: Rape and murder charges on Sooraj Pancholi, Aditya Pancholi speaks up

The judicial proceedings on the unnatural death of Bollywood actress Jiah Khan are on. While the prosecution is appealing to file new charges of rape, murder and illegal medical termination of pregnancy against Jiah’s boyfriend, actor Sooraj Pancholi, Sooraj’s father actor, Aditya Pancholi talks about the same, firmly opposing any new charges brought against his son.

“My son’s only fault was to have fallen in love with a girl. He did no other wrong”. Aditya said, “Neither Jiah’s mother Rabia nor the police had accused Sooraj of rape, so why is the prosecutor now demanding it. Suraj has never even sought anticipatory bail but on the contrary attended court on each date he was required to. He wants the case to proceed, but the prosecution has been delaying the proceedings by seeking time”.

Sooraj’s lawyer Prashant Patil also stated that the prosecution’s plea was not justified, adding that the it was defended by a prima facing evidence which is required to frame a charge. “There is no material to add a charge of murder or rape, and the termination of pregnancy was legally done”, he said.

The lawyer as well produced medical documents in support of Sooraj.

Jiah, in 2013, was found dead in her Juhu residence and her mother Rabia Khan accused Sooraj Pancholi of causing extreme physical and mental trauma and pushing her towards death.

The next hearing of the case will take place on May 20.
