Jimmy Sheirgill’s ‘Veerey Ki Wedding’ wins over Sonam Kapoor’s ‘Veerey Di Wedding’

Sonam Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan-starrer chick flick ‘Veerey Di Wedding’ has been in news for quite some time now. But what many didn’t know was, that a film titled ‘Veerey Ki Wedding’, starring Jimmy Sheirgill, was also in making!

We earlier reported that Sonam’s father Anil Kapoor had moved to the Bombay High Court, seeking a halt on the latter. According to him, ‘Veerey Ki Wedding’ makers were intending to take advantage of a bigger film that sounds similar to theirs. On Wednesday, Bombay High Court  dismissed his claim.

Kapoor has also written to Indian Motion Pictures Producer’s Association, seeking intervention for the same. However, his pleading was rejected since the title of ‘Veerey Ki Wedding’ was copyright-protected and the filming is complete. On the other hand, ‘Veerey Di Wedding’ produced by Rhea Kapoor has not gone to the floors yet. (Also Read: Jimmy Sheirgill wants something to get over. Here is it)

“The judge said he was not convinced by the [Anil’s] argument. He did not find any misuse or deceit as alleged, given that the story and cast were different. We are waiting for the judgment copy, Ashu Trikha, director of the Jimmy Sheirgill-starrer told Mid-Day.

The film is targeting a release in the month of August, this year.
