Karan Johar on ‘Koffee With Karan’: I was told don’t do a talk show

Karan Johar’s ‘Koffee With Karan’ has become one of the most sought after talks shows Bollywood has ever come up with. Because of Karan’s wit and the rapport that he shares with the celebs that come on the show, every episode has something new to offer.

The show completes its 100th episode and Salman Khan along with Arbaaz Khan ad Sohail Khan will be making an appearance on this special episode. Karan is all emotional on this achievement and says, “It (the 100th episode) is very special to me. It’s actually my century and I am overwhelmed and a tad emotional. I am exceptionally happy that something that started off as a hobby became such a big part of my personality.”

Further talking about how people had warned him to not do the show, he said, “I was told in the initial days, don’t do a talk show, it will take away the mystique as a filmmaker. Don’t do a talk show, it will kind of open you up. It will make you sound frivolous. You are a filmmaker you shouldn’t sound frivolous. And maybe I do sound a bit frivolous. Maybe I sometimes come across as a filmmaker who is perhaps not so serious about what he does.”

Karan further adds, “I am playing myself and I am proud to be myself. And I hope people eventually envelop who I am. I am all about ‘Koffee with Karan’ the fun, the frivolousness and most importantly the fabulousness. I have enjoyed these last 12 years and I am ready to hit the century.”

The Salman Khan episode will be aired tomorrow night.
